Talks between Paris Saint-Germain and Italian side Sassuolo are ongoing for striker Gianluca Scamacca, according to Fabrizio Romano. Newcastle United were linked with Scamacca earlier this summer, but it appears their hopes of landing him could well be over.

Romano states that Sassuolo wants a fee of £43 million for the forward. He’s had a strong campaign in Serie A this season, but that price would’ve been out of the Magpies’ range due to Financial Fair Play.

The club will be on the look for Hugo Ekitike alternatives after the striker has decided to stay with Stade Reims. But with PSG considering signing Scamacca, it appears they may have already missed out on another target already.

Newcastle’s search for another forward goes on after missing out on Scamacca, but they’re exploring plenty of options

With PSG considering signing Scamacca, Newcastle will have to access their other targets this summer. A striker is certainly high on their priorities.

Armando Broja is a another name which has sprung up a lot recently, as Eddie Howe looks for a new number nine. The latest is that the Magpies want to sign the Albanian on loan.

This would be a smart Ekitike alternative. The fee would be relatively small, with Newcastle only having to make a loan payment to Chelsea.

The one concern is that Broja did tail off towards the end of the last season with Southampton. But with experienced strikers like Callum Wilson in the side, he can improve.

Scamacca would’ve been an exciting signing, but sometimes signings from abroad don’t work out. At least with Broja, he’s shown he knows where the net is at Premier League level. At only 20-years-old, the Chelsea forward has time to develop.

With a large list of strikers on Newcastle’s radar, there’s no need to panic. PIF will access and look for a good bit of business when buying another striker. Patience will be needed for some Newcastle fans, but hopefully, it will be worth the wait.
