Newcastle United massively strengthened their squad this summer, bringing in players who can have an immediate impact on Tyneside.
By the time the transfer window closed, Newcastle had signed six senior players. That includes the loan deal for Aaron Ramsdale.
Of those six players added to the Newcastle United squad, four of them arrive with Premier League experience. That will delight Eddie Howe, as it gives them a better chance of hitting the ground running in black and white.
Jacob Ramsey falls into that category, having arrived from Aston Villa for an initial fee of £39million. The deal could rise to £43million with add-ons.
Newcastle have high hopes for Ramsey, while Aston Villa are still feeling the effects of his departure.

Aston Villa players upset Jacob Ramsey was sold to Newcastle United
Aston Villa were forced to sell this summer due to PSR. Just like when Newcastle lost Elliot Anderson, Villa had to lose one of their own as well.
That resulted in Ramsey being sold, which did not go down well in the Aston Villa dressing room.
According to the Telegraph, Villa’s decision to sell Ramsey to Newcastle United was ‘not popular’ with Unai Emery’s players.
They add that the 24-year-old leaving Villa Park has ‘created a sense of uncertainty in the dressing room’.
That uncertainty has leaked onto the pitch, with Emery’s side enduring a really challenging start to the 2025/26 campaign. They are 19th in the Premier League after four games, picking up just two points. They also crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, losing on penalties to Brentford.
When Jacob Ramsey will return from injury
While the Aston Villa players curse their club’s decision to sell Ramsey to Newcastle, Eddie Howe is yet to see the best of the talented midfielder.
His only Toon start so far ended in disappointment, with Ramsey suffering an ankle injury during the 0-0 draw with Leeds.
Ramsey was hoping to play against Wolves last Saturday, but it has now been confirmed that he is set for a spell on the sidelines. He will be missing until after the next international break.

That is a blow for Ramsey, who is yet to show supporters what he is truly capable of. It is also a blow for Eddie Howe, who would have relied heavily on Ramsey during what is a busy run of fixtures as he prepares to rotate his team.
After the October international break, Newcastle face Brighton at the Amex Stadium on 18th October. That will hopefully mark Ramsey’s return to action.
