Newcastle United owners PIF could finally be making progress on their plans for a new training ground.
The Newcastle United training ground has had some impressive improvements made to it during the PIF era at the club, although there is only so much that can be done on the existing site.
Indeed, Newcastle’s plans to move to a new training ground have been well-documented in recent months.
However, as has often been the case for Toon supporters about various matters under the Newcastle United owners, official progress has been very slow indeed.
Clearly, it’s a big decision and cannot be taken lightly but the radio silence about that, the appointment of a sporting director and a potential new stadium has been frustrating.
Still, progress appears to have been made.

Newcastle United could announce new training ground plans soon
According to The Daily Mail, there has been “significant” progress behind the scenes.
Executive figures at the club are said to have visited land in Seaton Burn, which is now seen as the favourite for the new site.
Though other locations are still under consideration, a spot in Seaton Burn near the Holiday Inn roundabout is now said to be favoured.
Populous, a US-based architects firm, will likely design it. They have previously worked with Tottenham and Real Madrid on their training complexes.
Their plan is to create a training ground that attracts the envy of Premier League rivals. It could include spa facilities, indoor and outdoor pitches, a mini-stadium and a cinema room.
An announcement could be made before Christmas.
Lack of progress has frustrated people at Newcastle United
The Mail reported earlier this summer that the likes of Alexander Isak were frustrated by the lack of off-field progress at Newcastle.
Clearly, there’s no guarantee that having a new training ground would have kept Isak happy. In truth, that feels like a stretch given the lengths he went to in order to force a move away.
Still, having a state-of-the-art training facility will invariably help prove to players that PIF remain ambitious at Newcastle.
It will not happen instantly, of course, but progress would be a major boost for supporters.
