Newcastle United have got a superstar in Bruno Guimaraes, as he proved once again on Wednesday night.
The 25-year-old came on at half time against Manchester City, and helped change the game as Newcastle advanced to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
It was an impressive performance from Bruno, who suddenly looks to be back to his best. The Brazilian endured a difficult start to the season, and questions were asked of him for the first time in his Toon career.
But he has been brilliant since the international break, and is now ready to commit his long-term future to the club.
Bruno is set to sign a new contract with Newcastle. It will keep him at St James’ Park until 2028, and see him become the club’s best paid player ever. He will reportedly earn more than £180,000-a-week, while the deal will also include a release clause worth more than £100million.

That release clause means Newcastle could potentially lose Bruno without a fight, but the Toon owners are actually very confident that he will be going nowhere.
Newcastle owners think Bruno Guimaraes will be with Newcastle for a long time
According to iNews, the Newcastle hierarchy are secretly confident that Bruno will stay with the Magpies for a long time, such is his love for the club.
However, the report stresses that it will be dependent on the club continuing to be in a position to challenge for honours, which they currently are.
Newcastle made it to the Carabao Cup final last season, and are in contention to do that again this time. On top of that, they are also competing in the Champions League.

That was the goal for Bruno when he first arrived in the North East, and it has not taken Newcastle long to get to that level.
That will be a contributing factor to the midfielder committing his future to the club, despite some of Europe’s biggest teams eyeing him up.
Bruno is adored on Tyneside, and he adores Tyneside. And that is why PIF believe that he will be with Newcastle United for a long time.
