Paul Dummett has endured a tough time since leaving Newcastle United.
The Geordie defender was released by Newcastle United at the end of last season, with Eddie Howe unable to retain Dummett once the Magpies missed out on Europe.
It took the 33-year-old a long time to find a new club. Dummett was offered to Wolves in September but a Premier League move did not materialise.
Instead, Paul Dummett had to wait until November when he joined League One outfit Wigan Athletic. He signed a short-term deal with the Latics, and it certainly was short.
Earlier this month he left Wigan, with Dummett joining Carlisle United. He has linked back up with Mike Williamson, who is the manager at Brunton Park.

Paul Dummett’s short Carlisle United debut
Now Dummett has made his debut for the League Two side, but it certainly did not go to plan.
He was named in Williamson’s starting XI on Saturday, as Carlisle United took on Fleetwood Town away from home.
Deployed in the middle of a back three, Dummett was forced off after five minutes due to a muscle problem.
“It was about his hamstring, unfortunately,” Williamson told Carlisle’s official website about Dummett’s injury.
“I think it was just one of those unnecessary, unfortunate, sorry situations where, you know, he was devastated last week of not being involved.
“Unfortunately today, that is football. But, you know, he’s experienced in there. He was on the bench. He was talking to lads and getting us through. I think his experience will still hold a lot of weight for us.”
It has proven to be a disastrous start to Dummett’s Carlisle career, but his teammates were at least able to triumph in his absence.
Carlisle beat Fleetwood 2-1 on Saturday, as they moved up from 24th to 23rd. Charlie McArthur played the full 90 minutes, having arrived on loan from Newcastle United.
Newcastle United loanee on the bench at Bolton
While Charlie McArthur is already getting regular first-team football out on loan, it is a contrasting story for another Newcastle United defender.
Alex Murphy has joined Bolton, but is yet to make his debut.
He has been an unused substitute on two occasions, with Murphy remaining on the bench for Bolton’s 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
Bolton are currently managerless, with Ian Evatt leaving the club last week – two days after Murphy’s arrival.
