Isaac Hayden has played down claims that he could be on his way back to Newcastle United in January.
The 28-year-old signed for Standard Liege on loan during the summer transfer window, taking his talents to Belgium after falling down the pecking order at Newcastle.
Isaac Hayden no longer has a role at St James’ Park, and did not even train with the club during the summer after his loan spell at Norwich came to an end.
A move to Standard Liege looked like a decent chance for him to get his career going again, but he is due back on Tyneside in 2024. That is because his move is a straight loan, with Liege having no option or obligation to make the deal permanent.
The midfielder has made 10 appearances for Standard Liege so far, but has not been in the squad for their previous three games.
Journalist claims Isaac Hayden could return to Newcastle in January
That led to a story from journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who claimed that Hayden is not happy due to personal reasons. The reporter stated that Hayden is staying in a hotel and is missing his family, who appear to have remained in England.
Tavolieri added that the former Arsenal man has a clause that will allow him to cut his loan deal short and return to Newcastle in January.

Isaac Hayden hits back at story about him on X
Now Hayden has responded to the story, taking to his official X (formerly known as Twitter) account to hit back at the claim that he could be on his way back to Newcastle.
Hayden wrote: “Instead of spreading nonsense, just ask the club or myself instead of speculation. Its not difficult.”
Hayden is not happy with the claims and has set the record straight. He has branded the story as ‘nonsense’, seemingly ending all talk of him coming back to the North East in January.
Even if Hayden did return, it probably would not lead to him getting a chance in Eddie Howe’s team. Even with the injury problems that the Magpies have, it would be a huge shock if Hayden ever plays for the club again.
His loan deal with Standard Liege runs until the end of the season, while his contract at Newcastle United is due to expire in 2026.
