Nick Woltemade summed up the performance Bruno Guimaraes put in for Newcastle United against Nottingham Forest with just a single word.
For large parts of Newcastle United’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, Eddie Howe’s side were rather poor.
Indeed, it looked like it had been a long week for the players, given it was the same starting lineup to the team who beat Union Saint-Gilloise on Wednesday.
That felt like a wise call from Howe. The only way this reasonably new-look team can get fully up to speed is by playing together more often.
Still, at times, a physically demanding few days understandably appeared to catch up with most of the players.
Guimaraes, however, helped lead Newcastle to victory before Woltemade scored a brilliant late penalty. The German forward was impressed with his skipper.

Nick Woltemade hails “magic” Bruno Guimaraes after Newcastle United win
After the game, Guimaraes took to social media platform Instagram.
He captioned a collage of images from the contest: “Three very important points. Very happy with the goal and the performance of the whole team. Howay the lads. See you after the International break. God’s plans.”
In response, Woltemade wrote: “Magic.”
It was vitally important that Newcastle beat Forest on Sunday and, thanks to that duo, they managed to.
Why Bruno Guimaraes really was “magic” for Newcastle United vs Nottingham Forest
After a slow first half, Newcastle needed someone to step up. They were seeing a lot of the ball but did reasonably little with it.
So then, it was fitting that Guimaraes took the game by the scruff of the neck. The midfielder won the ball back from Morgan Gibbs-White, which allowed Dan Burn to roam forward.
He then freed the Brazilian, who curled a brilliant strike past Matz Sels in the Forest goal.
A combination of Woltemade and Guimaraes won the penalty, too. The striker chased down what looked like a lost cause at first, before the midfielder forced Elliot Anderson into a foul.
The game needed a moment of magic to unlock it and Guimaraes provided exactly that.
