Newcastle United fans are loving Nick Woltemade, and the feeling is the same inside the club.
There is so much pressure on the 23-year-old’s shoulders, becoming Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever at £69million.
That pressure is intensified by replacing Alexander Isak, but Nick Woltemade has shown no signs that he is being dragged down by the weight of expectation.
The Germany international has been impressive, despite there being a clear need for his teammates to get on his wavelength. However, that is a problem for Eddie Howe and the rest of the Newcastle United squad, rather than the big man himself.
Given the size of the fee and his limited experience, there was a concern that Woltemade was doomed to initially fail at St James’ Park. That has not been the case, with the Magpies’ new number 27 surprising people behind the scenes.

Newcastle United did not think Nick Woltemade was this good in the air
Woltemade has made a great impression internally at Newcastle, with the i Paper providing new details on how the striker is viewed inside the club.
According to the i Paper, Newcastle United staff are impressed with Woltemade’s ability and attitude.
They add that one Newcastle United insider told them that they are surprised by how good Woltemade is in the air, having scored both of his Toon goals with his head.
Woltemade’s two headers have been outstanding, but it is understandable that the Magpies have been caught off guard by his aerial ability. After all, only one of his 17 goals for Stuttgart last season was with his head.
Pressure will soon be lifted on Nick Woltemade at Newcastle United
There is a lot of room for improvement, but Woltemade has enjoyed a promising start to his Newcastle United career.
He will soon be given a much-needed helping hand, with striker support on the way. Yoane Wissa is injured, but there is hope that he will be available after the international break.
Newcastle United vs Brighton on 18th October is pencilled in for Wissa’s debut, which will provide Eddie Howe with the striker depth he has been craving.

In a perfect world, Woltemade would not have been thrown this far into the deep end. He would have been eased into the side, with a smattering of appearances. Instead, Wissa’s injury has forced Woltemade to immediately take on a starring role.
The sooner Newcastle’s two summer signings can dovetail the better, so Howe will find relief in the fact that Wissa could be available to him in the very near future.
