Newcastle United have so many important players right now, which speaks volumes about Eddie Howe’s squad.

The Magpies have elite players all over the pitch, who have helped take the club from relegation certainties to the Champions League. There have been brilliant signings, while original players have improved thanks to the management of Eddie Howe.

Right now, it feels like Callum Wilson or Alexander Isak is the most important player. They score so many goals for Newcastle, but are both out of action due to injury. That is a huge blow and shows how valuable they are to the club.

Elsewhere, Newcastle were without Bruno Guimaraes for the defeat to Bournemouth. The team were nowhere near as good without him, showing just how irreplaceable he is. With that in mind, you could argue that he is the most important player at St James’ Park.

However, a new report from the Telegraph states that the honour of being Newcastle United’s most important player goes to Kieran Trippier – in the eyes of the rest of the team and the coaching staff.

Kieran Trippier is Newcastle’s most important player

According to the Telegraph, they have spoke to multiple Newcastle players and coaches who all agree that Kieran Trippier is the ‘heart and soul’ of the entire club at this moment in time.

They report that they have been told that the 33-year-old is viewed as the most integral player, as he embodies what Eddie Howe wants from his players on the pitch and at the training ground.

It is no surprise to hear that Trippier is viewed in that light, as his impact has been seismic since his arrival in January 2022. He arrived with a big reputation from Atletico Madrid, leaving a Champions League club for a relegation battle.

To the naked eye, it looked like he was just coming for the money. But that has not been the case, with Trippier reminding people that he actually took a pay cut to sign for the Magpies.

He immediately became a leader at St James’ Park, raising standards throughout the entire club. He was not going to lower his level, so those around him better raise theirs. The defender has made the players around him better, with the likes of Sean Longstaff and Miguel Almiron seriously benefitting from Trippier’s presence.

And that is why Trippier should always be considered the most important signing that the Toon owners have ever made and ever will make. He has played a key role in transforming the club and getting them to the heights they are now experiencing.

It is the best £12million they have ever spent.
