Kieran Trippier was involved in an altercation with a Newcastle United fan following the 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.
The Magpies arrived at Bournemouth with a depleted squad, and the Cherries took advantage of that fact to secure their second win of the season. They were dominant on Saturday night, while Newcastle were helpless.
It was a really poor performance from Eddie Howe’s side, on a night where his team was stretched beyond belief. Lewis Miley was asked to start for the first ever time, while Ben Parkinson came on for his competitive debut.
There was even more injury misery too, with Miguel Almiron being forced off with a hamstring problem. He now looks set to miss the next game against Chelsea.
There was huge disappointment at full time, and it led to an incident between one Newcastle supporter and Kieran Trippier.
The pair exchanged words, with Trippier angrily asking him to remind him how many injuries the club had. He was eventually pulled away by Joelinton, while the supporter went on to apologise for what he had said.
There has been a huge reaction to the incident. It has led to Garth Crooks taking aim at the entire Newcastle fanbase, while Simon Jordan has suggested that Trippier should have simply kept his mouth shut.
It is a storm in a teacup, and now the Telegraph have provided details of what happened with the Newcastle players after the altercation.

What Kieran Trippier said to Newcastle teammates after Bournemouth incident
According to the Telegraph, Trippier was questioned by some of his teammates as to why he had confronted the fan. They report that the 33-year-old did not apologise, and instead reminded the players of the standards they have set for themselves at the club.
The Telegraph add that Trippier told the players that they could not put themselves in that position again where they could be questioned by supporters for not giving their all.
That is why the defender is so respected in the dressing room and why he is such an important leader for Newcastle United. He sets such high standards, and expects everyone to be at his level – because he won’t be lowering his own.
There was no lack of effort against Bournemouth. It was just a shattered team being put to the sword.
But in the heat of the moment, it was easy for the travelling supporter to be irate. Bournemouth is a long way away and difficult to get to, especially with it being a late kickoff on Sky Sports.
Newcastle were convincingly beaten on what was a very difficult night under extremely taxing circumstances. But Trippier does not want that to be an excuse, and instead used the incident as a reminder of how far we have come and what is now expected.
