Things are going from bad to worse for Newcastle United as it has been confirmed Lewis Hall will miss the Carabao Cup final.
Newcastle United’s preparations for the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool in just 11 days couldn’t be going much more awry as Eddie Howe now knows he will be without two of his most important players.
Anthony Gordon will miss out through suspension after foolishly getting himself sent off against Brighton for violent conduct, with Newcastle opting against appealing the decision.
Now another crucial cog on the left side of the field has been ruled out as Lewis Hall will miss the rest of the season through injury.
Though Newcastle lost to Liverpool in the Premier League last month, Hall put in an excellent display against Mohamed Salah and Howe will have to find a solution to deal with the Egyptian star in his absence.
But how do Newcastle generally fare without Hall in the side?

Newcastle United win percentage without Lewis Hall
Newcastle signed Hall, initially on loan before the move was made permanent, from Chelsea in the summer of 2023.
It took him some time to fully break into the side as Dan Burn was preferred at left-back with Sven Botman partnering Fabian Schar in defence.
However, after both Botman and then Jamaal Lascelles suffered serious ACL injuries in quick succession, Burn was forced into the middle and that opened the door for Hall.
It was a chance he grasped with both hands and he never looked back. Since March 30, 2024, Hall has been involved in every Premier League fixture and has started in all but three of them this season.
Hall has become one of Newcastle’s best and most consistent performers, so it’s no surprise that they have a higher win percentage with him in the side.
There is some optimism for Newcastle fans as it is only marginal, 52.57% compared to 48.28% without him, but most of the games he hasn’t been involved in came before he had become so important.

| Games | 56 | 29 |
| Wins | 30 | 14 |

Newcastle still sweating over two more injuries
With one more game to go until the trip to Wembley in a bid to finally end the 70-year trophy drought, Newcastle will be desperate to avoid any further injuries.
The Magpies face West Ham on Monday and, though the Premier League is obviously important, it wouldn’t be surprising if Howe rested some of his most important players.
Especially since Alexander Isak and Kieran Trippier limped off the field in Sunday’s defeat to Brighton.
Howe sounded optimistic on Isak afterwards, saying it wasn’t an injury but that he felt tightness, while Trippier complained of a back complaint.
Hopefully they are only minor issues but there’s no chance they can be risked ahead of the final. At least Liverpool have three games to contend with beforehand.
