Newcastle United will be without Lewis Hall against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final due to injury.

The 20-year-old missed Newcastle’s loss to Brighton on Sunday, as the Magpies crashed out of the FA Cup.

It was confirmed that Lewis Hall was absent due to an ankle issue, with the defender set to see a specialist.

That set alarm bells ringing, and Newcastle United’s fears have now been realised.

Newcastle lose Lewis Hall to injury ahead of Wembley

While Toon fans have been crossing their fingers for good news regarding Hall’s injury, that has not been forthcoming.

According to the Daily Mail, Hall will miss the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool due to injury.

It is a devastating blow for the left-back, who has been enjoying an incredible season in black and white.

It is also a devastating blow for Newcastle, who have lost another key player ahead of their trip to Wembley.

Anthony Gordon is suspended, and now Hall is ruled out. His absence is even more painful given how well Hall played against Mohamed Salah at Anfield last week.

Lewis Hall’s likely replacement in the Carabao Cup final

With Hall ruled out, Eddie Howe will need to name an alternative at left-back.

According to the Daily Mail, Tino Livramento will play there instead of his preferred position of right-back.

That is what happened against Brighton on Sunday, with Livramento on the left of defence and Kieran Trippier on the right.

Left-back is a position that Livramento knows well, with the 22-year-old playing there a lot during his debut season at St James’ Park.

One alternative to play there is Matt Targett. The £15million man is fit once again, and featured off the bench during the FA Cup loss to Brighton.

However, Targett failed to take his chance with a disappointing display.
