Newcastle United are going to officially sign Garang Kuol on January 1st 2023, and he is a player who could go on to become one of the best in the world.
That is the view of Nick Montgomery, who is Kuol’s current manager at Central Coast Mariners. The teenager is finishing up in Australia before linking up with his new team in the New Year.
He was officially unveiled as a Newcastle player at the end of September, and recently watched his new team beat Fulham 4-1 at Craven Cottage. Kuol was pictured in the away end amongst the travelling Toon Army. No idea how he had enough loyalty points for a ticket…
The 18-year-old is a very exciting addition for Newcastle. He was wanted by some of the best clubs in the world, but Dan Ashworth managed to convince him to come to Tyneside.
He clearly has a lot of potential, and could soon get the chance on the global stage. Kuol is already an Australia international, and will hope to be included in Graham Arnold’s upcoming World Cup squad.
In the meantime, he is still playing for Central Coast Mariners in the A League. And his manager has had some very kind words to say about the future Newcastle player.
Nick Montgomery on Garang Kuol
Kuol and his current team are set to be the focus of the next episode of A Leagues All Access. A trailer for it has been released, which includes manager Montgomery talking about the Newcastle-bound forward.
“I think Garang could be as good as anyone in the world,” he said.
That is immensely high praise, and hugely exciting from a Newcastle point of view. Montgomery has worked closely with Kuol since he broke into the CCM first-team, and will no doubt be disappointed to lose him in January.
But it is Kuol’s dream to play in Europe. He says just that in the trailer for the episode.
He will soon achieve that dream, although it might have to start with a loan spell. It has previously been reported that Kuol will be sent out on loan straight away due to work permit issues.
That’s not a problem though, as he is one for the future. That’s why he has been brought to Newcastle. The club believe he can become a star in the coming years, and have acted swiftly to bring him in now ahead of everyone else.
Deals like this will hopefully become a common occurrence for Newcastle. They want to sign the best young players around, and it makes financial sense to get them signed up as early as possible.
After Kuol, there is talk that Andrey Santos could arrive from Brazil. He would be another exciting addition. However, that is still just paper talk.
But Kuol is certainly going to become a Magpie, and hopefully achieves his obscene potential in a black and white shirt.
