Newcastle United still have plenty left to play for in the Premier League before the 2024/25 season comes to a close.
Saturday afternoon’s 3-0 win over Ipswich Town was crucial in Newcastle United’s race for Champions League football.
The Magpies are third in the Premier League table with four games remaining this season – a top-five finish is enough to return to the Champions League next season.

Eddie Howe’s full focus will be on winning those four games, but the club hierarchy are already planning ahead with one eye on the summer and the preparations for next season.
Not only in terms of transfer business, but also Newcastle’s pre-season tour.

Newcastle United will not go on a post-season tour
It has already been confirmed that Newcastle’s 2025 pre-season tour will see the squad jet out to Singapore and South Korea.
Newcastle toured Japan last summer and PIF have decided to try and further build the club’s popularity in Asia in that region of the world.
As part of last summer’s plans though, Newcastle held a post-season tour of Australia which included games against Tottenham and a match against the A League All-Stars XI.
According to iNews, Newcastle have decided to scrap the idea of touring post-season despite it generating a “six-figure” fee for the club.
Newcastle United’s post-season tour unsettled players
As soon as the post-season tour was announced last season, it was immediately met with controversy.
Alan Shearer responded to the post-season tour by hinting that it would frustrate players, and he was not wrong.
As quoted by The Athletic, Kieran Trippier suggested that a post-season tour was “not ideal” for the squad.
Those comments were echoed by manager Eddie Howe, who said: “This is something from a physical perspective after a long season that we probably wouldn’t want to do.”
Howe didn’t take the entire squad to Australia, deciding to leave the likes of Anthony Gordon behind to help him recover and prepare to try and break into the England squad.
This time around, Newcastle United players can enjoy a break at the end of the season before they jet off to Asia for the pre-season tour.
