Joelinton was Newcastle United’s hero last season.
The Brazilian completed a transformation that wouldn’t look out of place on the big screen in Hollywood. He went from failing forward to midfield powerhouse, and ended the campaign as Newcastle’s Player of the Year.
It was an honour he absolutely deserved, and hopefully it’s only just the beginning for Joelinton and his renaissance.
Fans are eager to see him back in action alongside his Toon teammates, but will have to wait until July when pre-season kicks off.
In the meantime, supporters have been treated to a video by NUFC TV which sums up Joelinton’s exceptional season.
NUFC TV unveil Joelinton video
The club have released a seven minute highlight package of Joelinton on their official Twitter account. You can see the video in all its glory below.
The 25-year-old had so many great moments last season. The games that stick out in his video compilation are the 2-0 win over Brentford, his brace against Norwich and the draw with Manchester United.
His transformation has been a sight to behold. He’s now a fan favourite at St James’ Park, having previously been a figure of frustration.
Now fans adore him and serenade him to the tune of Oasis’ She’s Electric at every given opportunity.
The video shows how good a midfielder Joelinton has become. The way he reads the game is exceptional, intercepting so many balls with impeccable timing.
He also uses the ball well too. He’s not just a battering ram – he’s also clever in possession. And his strength is unmatched, with opponent after opponent bouncing off our number seven.
It will be interesting to see what his role is next season. Eddie Howe tinkered with Joelinton late in the season, using him out wide in games against Norwich and Liverpool. Luckily, he’s versatile enough to be unfazed by a tactical switch.
For now, fans are loving the seven minute Joelinton masterclass. Hopefully we see more videos like this for other players. An Emil Krafth one would be great, and so would a highlight package of big Dan Burn headers.
