Joelinton deserved every second of adulation from the Newcastle fans at Norwich.
The Brazilian started up front at Carrow Road, but quickly swapped positions with Allan Saint-Maximin. What followed was Joelinton’s first ever brace in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old scored twice in the first half, giving Newcastle complete control against the Canaries. His first was a stunning finish, and his second was a reward for his hard work and anticipation.
Joelinton now has 10 Premier League goals since his 2019 arrival, a tally that is not befitting of a £40million signing who was given the number nine shirt.

But everything has changed this season.
Joelinton is a Newcastle fan favourite
With the number seven on his back and a change of position, Joelinton is a new man.
His move into midfield has revitalised his Toon career, and taken him from £40million flop to fan favourite.
He showed his versatility on Saturday, playing in different positions and bagging a brilliant brace. It could have been a hat-trick too, but he was denied by former Magpie Tim Krul.

After the game, the travelling Toon Army sounded their appreciation for Joelinton. He’s even got his own chant now, which can be heard home and away.
The Samba star was serenaded to the tune of Oasis’ She’s Electric, with Toon fans telling Joelinton just how brilliant they think he is.
And he soaked up every last second.
With the rest of the team heading to the dressing room, Joelinton remained in front of the away end to soak it all in. And the chant kept going.
At one point he went to turn around and head back inside, only to savour the moment for even longer. And the chant kept going.
Joelinton is the embodiment of what Eddie Howe has done at St James’ Park, and deserves every bit of praise he gets.
‘He’s Brazilian, he only cost £40million…’
