It’s been a sensational year for Newcastle United, who ended their seven-decade wait for domestic silverware when they clinched the Carabao Cup.
Eddie Howe has also guided the side back to the Champions League after their spot in the Premier League top five was confirmed on the final day of the season, though not by their own doing.
Newcastle lost 1-0 to Everton in what would have gone down as a massive bottle job had Manchester United not controversially defeated Aston Villa.
Man Utd’s 2-0 win ensured Newcastle clinched the last Champions League spot on goal difference and the 2025-26 campaign promises more memorable moments to come.

When does the transfer window open?
Newcastle United will be able to start adding signings to their squad when the transfer window opens on June 1.
However, the first window will actually only be open for nine days before closing again on June 10.
This extra registration period has been added to the calendar to afford teams competing in the newly expanded Club World Cup – Manchester City and Chelsea – this summer the chance to sign players before the tournament begins.
The transfer window will then open normally on Monday, June 16, and remain open for the rest of the summer.
When is transfer deadline day?
Transfer deadline day for the summer transfer window is Monday, September 1. The window will close earlier than usual at 7pm.
When are the Premier League fixtures released?
The Premier League fixtures for the 2025-26 season were released at 9am on Wednesday, June 18.
When is Newcastle United’s pre-season tour?
Newcastle will travel to Glasgow for their first friendly against Celtic on July 19 before jetting off to Singapore and South Korea for their pre-season tour. They will play Arsenal on July 27.
When is the Champions League league phase draw?
Newcastle will discover their Champions League opponents when the draw is held on Thursday, August 28.
The Champions League will begin on Tuesday, September 18, with the league phase running until Wednesday, January 28.
When do Newcastle play Sunderland
The dates for Newcastle’s two Tyne-Wear derbies with Sunderland in the 2025-26 season have been set.
- December 14, 2025: Sunderland vs Newcastle United
- March 21, 2026: Newcastle United vs Sunderland
Where is the Champions League final in 2026 being held?
The final will be held in the Puskas Arena, Budapest, Hungary.
When does the Premier League season start?
The opening weekend of the next Premier League season comes on August 16, with Newcastle starting their campaign against Aston Villa.
The season actually kicks off on Friday, August 15, when Liverpool take on Bournemouth.

As always, there will be four international breaks throughout the season. They will be:

Though Newcastle currently don’t have any players who this would impact, the Africa Cup of Nations also takes place next season, from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
When does the Carabao Cup start?
Newcastle will be defending champions of the Carabao Cup next season after defeating Liverpool in the final to win the trophy in 2025.
The tournament gets underway on August 11, but Newcastle will not enter until the second round.
When does the January transfer window open?
The transfer window will open again midway through the season on January 1, 2026.
It has not yet been confirmed when the window will close, with 2025’s window staying open until February 3.
When does the FA Cup start?
The FA Cup begins early in the season with preliminary qualifying rounds but Newcastle won’t enter until the third round at the start of 2026.
When does the Premier League finish?
The final day of the Premier League season comes on Sunday, May 24, 2026. The 2026 World Cup will begin just two weeks later.
