Newcastle United could soon welcome back Yoane Wissa and Lewis Hall from injury.

Newcastle United fans are eagerly awaiting Wissa’s debut for the club. The DR Congo international has been recovering from a knee injury suffered while away on international duty since September.

Hall, meanwhile, picked up an unwelcome hamstring injury during Newcastle’s win over Union Saint-Gilloise earlier this month.

Tino Livramento and Harrison Ashby are also injury concerns for Eddie Howe, while Sandro Tonali sat on the bench for Tuesday night’s win over Benfica through illness.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Newcastle United injury news and potential return dates.

Yoane Wissa

Wissa has been stepping up his return from injury by running out on the grass. A social media post from William Osula also showed the 29-year-old alongside his teammates at the Newcastle United training ground.

Howe has confirmed he expects Wissa to return in November, with a debut against Brentford on the ninth of that month reportedly possible. He will, however, need a “six-week” fitness schedule akin to a pre-season, although that doesn’t mean he won’t play during that time.

“Pre-season schedules that we give to players will be six weeks. And we do that for a reason, so we can build them up and they can play in various games, and then they’re ready to perform,” said Howe.

“So I’m not saying he won’t play for six weeks. But I think to get to his very best level, it will probably take that time.

“But firstly, before we get to that stage, we need to get him fully 100% fit and then we can really push him. He’s on that road. He’s been to see a specialist yesterday. That was a routine appointment.”

Potential return date: November 2025

Sandro Tonali

Tonali has been suffering with illness at Newcastle and duly sat on the bench for the win over Benfica on Tuesday night.

The midfielder trained earlier this week but is still feeling under the weather. As such, he remains a doubt for Newcastle against Fulham.

“We are still monitoring Sandro,” confirmed Howe.

“He did train on Wednesday but wasn’t 100% so he is touch and go for the game.”

Potential return date: October 2025

Lewis Hall

Hall could return before the November international break in what would be a major boost for Howe.

The Newcastle United manager is lacking options at full-back outside of Kieran Trippier and Dan Burn, so the England international cannot return soon enough.

“Lewis is the same, on the grass and doing well, so hopefully he is not too far away,” said Howe before the Fulham game.

Potential return date: November 2025

Tino Livramento

Livramento’s knee injury could keep him out of action until December but that is still better news than what was initially feared.

Indeed, when Livramento was stretchered off against Arsenal earlier this month, many would have been fearing a much longer-term absence.

Howe has confirmed the defender is making good progress on his injury.

“Tino is back on the grass for the first time today, so happy for him,” he said.

Potential return date: November/December 2025

Harrison Ashby

Such is the crisis at full-back, Ashby would have been a potential option to turn to had it not been for a thigh injury.

Still, when asked about Newcastle’s forgotten man last week, Howe said: “Unfortunately, at the moment, Harrison is injured and he’s been injured for a period of time with a thigh injury, so we’re waiting for him to be fit again.”
