Newcastle United want to sign an attacker in 2025, and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford is very much available.

Eddie Howe is in need of attacking reinforcements next year, both out wide and through the middle. Newcastle want to sign a striker in 2025, and that desire will have only intensified on the back of Callum Wilson’s latest injury.

Elsewhere, Newcastle want a right winger in January. That is Paul Mitchell’s priority, but only if Newcastle can afford to as PSR continues to cause problems on Tyneside.

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford is a player who can operate anywhere across the forward line, and he looks destined for a transfer away from Old Trafford in 2025.

It was recently reported that Man United will sell Rashford for £40million, while there was another twist in his future on Sunday.

The England international was not involved in the Man United squad that beat Manchester City, with Ruben Amorim opting to leave Rashford out.

The 27-year-old has since said that he is ready for a new challenge, as he hints towards a move away from Manchester United.

What Newcastle United fans are saying about Marcus Rashford

That has got Newcastle United fans talking on social media, as they debate on X whether or not Rashford would be a good addition to the Magpies’ squad.

It is fair to say that the possibility of signing Rashford has split the Toon Army, with various supporters arguing for and against a potential deal.

This fan wrote: “Can’t help but think if Man Utd are realistic in their valuation, then I could see Eddie Howe getting the very best out of Rashford. He looks a shadow of what he’s capable of currently and with Wilson’s injury record, could be an interesting fit for everyone.”

A second Toon supporter agreed, posting: “Unsure if this would be an unpopular opinion, but I’d 100% have Rashford at NUFC. Back up for Isak or even play Isak behind him.”

“I’d have Rashford at Newcastle in a heartbeat – top top player in there in my opinion,” added another Newcastle fan.

However, this member of the Toon Army disagreed, writing: “If Rashford is available for a decent price then I would still go nowhere near.”

This Newcastle fan concurred, commenting on X: “Please, please, please don’t even think about signing Marcus Rashford @NUFC. Screams Freddy Shepherd signing.”

Finally, this Toon fan summed up exactly why Rashford will not be joining Newcastle, writing: “Not a chance on the wages he’s on. Plus can’t see us being interested in another left winger.”

Why Newcastle will not sign Rashford from Manchester United

Personally, I think there is no way that Newcastle United will sign Marcus Rashford.

The main reason is his wages, with Rashford earning more than £300,000-a-week. That is way beyond what Newcastle would be able to pay him.

There is also the added complication of his position. While Newcastle need a striker and a right winger, Rashford primarily wants to play on the left. That is Anthony Gordon’s position at St James’ Park, and there is no way he should be replaced by the Red Devils’ number 10.

Finally, Paul Mitchell wants Newcastle to sign more players from overseas ahead of Premier League talent. That way they will be able to find more value in the transfer market, as they continue to try and tiptoe around PSR.

While some Newcastle fans would love to see Rashford in a black and white shirt, it simply is not going to happen.
