After what has felt like an age from his club-record move to Newcastle United, Nick Woltemade has trained with his teammates for the first time.

Woltemade quickly returned from international duty with Germany over the break to join his Newcastle United teammates on Tyneside as they were put through their paces under Eddie Howe.

Newcastle play Wolves on Saturday and their club-record addition is in line to make his debut at St James’ Park

Indeed, Newcastle broke their transfer record to sign Woltemade from Stuttgart and it’s thought the deal could reach a huge £69million.

Clearly, the 23-year-old is a developing talent. While he certainly looks exciting, the Germany striker arrives with only 70 Bundesliga games behind him. Patience must be afforded, to a certain degree.

On Tuesday, Woltemade was pictured with his teammates at the Newcastle United training ground for the first time. The club released a snippet of the session on social media, to which many fans responded.

Newcastle United fans convinced of Nick Woltemade success after first training session

Supporters on social media were naturally excited to see the forward in training. With the Alexander Isak saga now over, the club can move forward with their exciting new strike force in Woltemade and Wissa.

Fans are convinced the German star will be a success.

“Nick and [Yoane] Wissa going be class for us I can feel it in my bones,” replied another supporter.

“No better feeling than knowing we have a head coach and staff that will elevate young players to elite levels,” was another comment.

“Seen enough, announce the Ballon D’or,” wrote one fan.

Another said: “I think Eddie Howe is going to make this lad famous for good reasons.”

One added: “Can’t wait till Eddie [Howe] turns him into a proven Premier League goal scorer.”

What is Nick Woltemade’s style of play?

Standing at around 6ft 6in, it’s tempting to think of Woltemade as a target man.

That, however, doesn’t look to be the case.

The Germany international appears equally as capable as playing as a support striker as he does up front.

Woltemade has been compared to former England striker Peter Crouch but the German himself gave fans a hint about his best abilities when signing for the club in August.

Woltemade said: “I’m not the typical 6ft 6 guy. I like to dribble, I like to have the ball at my feet. I like to be creative, I know my qualities.”

It would be fair to say that Newcastle fans cannot wait to see him in action.
