Newcastle United have advanced to the 4th round of the Carabao Cup after defeating Bradford City.

It’s been a tough and low-scoring start to the new season for Newcastle United but they kicked off their Carabao Cup defence with a confident 4-1 victory over Bradford City on Wednesday night.

Joelinton got the ball rolling with a composed touch and finish before William Osula confidently fired past the onrushing goalkeeper to make it two moments later.

Bradford did their best to plug the floodgates, but their resilience finally fell in the 75th minute when Joelinton again found the bottom corner.

Toon fan Andy Cook then walloped one in, in a special moment for him, but Osula also bagged a brace with a late tap-in to complete the rout.

Now Newcastle know who they will play next in the competition.

Newcastle United learn next Carabao Cup opponent after draw

The draw was held for the Carabao Cup fourth round following the conclusion of Arsenal’s victory over Port Vale.

Newcastle were drawn at home against tough Premier League opposition in Tottenham Hotspur, who are enjoying a strong start under new manager Thomas Frank.

Spurs made it to this stage by defeating Doncaster Rovers 3-0 on Wednesday, thanks to goals from Joao Paulinha, Brennan Johnson and an own-goal.

The game will be played on the week commencing October 27, 2025, and comes between a home fixture against Fulham and an away trip to fellow Londoners West Ham United.

Carabao Cup fourth round draw in full

Here is the full list of eight ties in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.

It’s an interesting draw in the Carabao Cup, with half of the ties being all Premier League affairs.

That’s not to mention a Welsh derby between Wrexham and Cardiff City and the only League Two side remaining in the tournament, Grimsby, welcoming Brentford.

Newcastle have been given an extremely tough tie but will be buoyed by the fact they defeated Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, Brentford, Arsenal twice and Liverpool to win the club last season.
