Newcastle United fans in complete agreement about Will Osula after Carabao Cup goal

Newcastle United fans on social media were delighted for William Osula during their Carabao Cup clash with Bradford City.

Osula is arguably third choice in the Newcastle United pecking order when both Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade are available.

Wissa, however, is injured and Woltemade started on the bench for the Toon’s third-round clash with Bradford as the defence of their Carabao Cup trophy began.

Still, in an interesting twist of fate, Osula’s fine strike against The Bantams made him the club’s top scorer so far this season following his goal against Liverpool last month.

The former Sheffield United youngster is something of a cult-hero on Tyneside and while he almost left St James’ Park on deadline day, his form may suggest he’s worthy of more game time right now.

Indeed, supporters online were praising him after his goal against Bradford.

Newcastle United fans praise William Osula

The 22-year-old latched onto a brilliant through ball from Bruno Guimaraes to score a quick-fire second after Joelinton had put Newcastle into the lead. They headed into the break 2-0 up.

With all due respect to Bradford, tougher tests will no doubt come but it was still a tidy finish from a player who has not enjoyed much in the way of first team football.

There’s an element of chaos to his play. At times, he looks somewhat unorthodox but there would appear to be some elements with which to work for manager Eddie Howe.

Fans online largely loved his performance.

“Will Osula is the FUNNIEST player in the world. Give him a lifetime contract for pure comedy value,” wrote another fan.

One supporter added: “Osula is fired up I love to see it.”

“There’s defo a player in there with Osula like,” was another comment.

Transfer approach likely to come for William Osula

Osula almost joined Eintracht Frankfurt in September, only for the deal to collapse towards the closing stages of deadline day.

However, they may come calling again.

Reports in the German media have previously suggested that Frankfurt could make another move for Osula in January 2026.

He was initially kept on as cover, and it will be fascinating to see if he can do enough to force Howe to keep him on Tyneside once again.
