Newcastle transfer news: Benjamin Sesko to 'make a decision' on his future soon

Newcastle United have been linked with signing Benjamin Sesko this summer, and a decision over his future is on the horizon.

The teenager emerged as a Toon target shortly after his agent posted a picture of himself on the Newcastle quayside. It was claimed soon after that he is a striker that Eddie Howe’s side are looking at.

That’s about as far as things appeared to go, with claims that Sesko didn’t fancy a move away from RB Salzburg. It was also claimed that the Austrian side don’t want to sell him until next summer, in the hope that they will get more money for him.

But speculation surrounding Sesko’s future refuses to go away, especially after he impressed in a 1-0 friendly win over Liverpool. The Slovenian scored the only goal of the game, and went viral for an insane piece of skill.

He’s also attracting interest from Manchester United, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano believes that a decision over his future is imminent.

What Romano has said about Sesko’s future

Romano has taken to Twitter to provide an update on the Sesko situation. He states that the youngster’s agent has held talks with Manchester United, and that the player will make a decision soon.

The Red Devils are in the mix for his signature, and Romano adds that there are two more clubs in contention to sign him.

Those two clubs are unnamed, but it would be incredibly exciting if one of them was Newcastle. He fits the profile perfectly for what we want.

We already have Callum Wilson to lead the line. What we need is a younger forward who will eventually replace the 30-year-old.

Sesko can be exactly that, and is someone who can grow in tandem with the club. Newcastle are on the up, and Sesko is being tipped to have a hugely bright future. He’s the next Erling Haaland, which is high praise indeed.

But while a decision over his future is coming soon, it would be a real shock to see Sesko join the Magpies.

He may only be a teenager, but he is going to cost an absolute fortune. i News recently claimed that Salzburg want more than £45million for him, and that his agent has held talks with Man United, Chelsea and Eddie Howe’s side.

That would make him Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever. Are we really going to spend all that money on a backup for Wilson?

Sesko would be a brilliant signing, but feels very unlikely. Sooner rather than later, he could become another striker to officially cross of the list.
