Newcastle United are reportedly about to step up their bid to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Salzburg.
That’s according to the Northern Echo, who state that the Magpies are going to make a ‘more formal inquiry’ for the 19-year-old.
Sesko is a man in demand this summer, and his agent has reportedly held talks with Manchester United and Chelsea, as well as Eddie Howe’s side.

It was previously claimed that the 19-year-old wouldn’t be leaving Salzburg. They don’t want to do business until the summer of 2023.
But now a move in the summer of 2022 could be on the cards as interest ramps up.
Newcastle thinking about Sesko offer
The Northern Echo add that Newcastle are considering an opening offer for Sesko. They state that the Magpies are pondering a bid worth £25million up front, plus add-ons.

However, that might not be enough to convince the Austrian side to sell. It might depend on how much the add-ons are worth and how attainable they are.
Salzburg want much more than £25million for their star striker. A fee of £42million is what they are looking for.
That would make him Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever. It’s a lot of money to spend on a backup for Callum Wilson.
However, Sesko would be a long-term signing. While he might begin as an understudy, he has the potential to be a Premier League superstar. The teenager has been called the ‘complete striker‘ by his agent, and has been praised for his ‘electric pace‘ and power.

He’s been likened to Erling Haaland, which is incredibly exciting after seeing the Norwegian’s Premier League debut on Sunday.
Sesko is one of the highest rated young forwards in Europe right now. That’s why so many big clubs want the Slovenian, and why Salzburg want so much money for him.
Newcastle are thinking about an initial offer of £25million, which is £17million shy of what Salzburg reportedly want. The Magpies might be stepping up their efforts to sign Sesko, but will likely remain well short of his asking price.
