It looks like Newcastle United target Christian Pulisic will be available this summer.

The American winger is one of four Chelsea players who the Magpies are currently interested in, as Eddie Howe goes in search of attacking reinforcements.

Newcastle appear keen to get a helping hand from Thomas Tuchel’s side, who could move a lot of players on before the transfer window closes.

One of those players is Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is expected to leave Stamford Bridge on loan. He’s been linked with Newcastle, and is reportedly open to a move to St James’ Park.

Another target is his teammate Pulisic, whose future looks a lot less clear. However, there does appear to be a chance that his time at Chelsea could be coming to an end – if only temporarily.

Chelsea will listen to Pulisic offers

According to the Telegraph, Chelsea will listen to offers for Pulisic as they look to trim their squad. Whether that means permanent bids or loan approaches remains to be seen.

If Newcastle do make a move, it would only be for a temporary switch. It feels incredibly unlikely that we would be able to afford Pulisic permanently. He cost Chelsea £58million just over three years ago, while he is earning £150,000-a-week.

It therefore makes more sense for the Magpies to make a loan offer, which could suit all parties. It would allow Pulisic to get guaranteed minutes, which is what he desperately needs heading into the World Cup. He will be the USA’s big hope up against England in Group B.

The 23-year-old can also solve Newcastle’s problems. We need more creativity out wide, and Pulisic can certainly provide that. He’s a wonderful dribbler with blistering speed, and can play on both flanks.

The American is an incredibly exciting player who can excite fans, and has been called ‘Hazard light‘ by Gary Neville. That’s high praise given how good Eden Hazard was in the Premier League.

But a move to Newcastle may depend more on what happens with Hudson-Odoi. He feels more likely to move to St James’ Park on loan at the moment. If that happens, there’s no chance that Pulisic will be following him.

As it stands, no Chelsea players have moved to Newcastle. Only time will tell who is the Magpies’ priority.
