Newcastle transfer news: Aston Villa willing to sell Carney Chukwuemeka

Aston Villa are reportedly willing to sell Carney Chukwuemeka this summer, which is news that will be of interest to Newcastle United.

The 18-year-old’s Villa future is suddenly in doubt due to a contract dispute. His current deal expires next summer, and the midfielder is unwilling to accept the current offer that is on the table.

That has led to a stand off between player and club, and forced Steven Gerrard to take action. Villa are currently in Australia on a pre-season tour, but have left Chukwuemeka at home.

This has cast further doubt over his future, and the Daily Mail state that Villa are now open to selling one of their most talented youngsters.

Aston Villa’s decision to possibly sell will interest Newcastle

Plenty of clubs will be keen to sign Chukwuemeka, such is his potential. The two Manchester clubs have been linked, while Newcastle are also keen.

According to 90min, the Magpies are open to trying to sign the teenager this summer.

Dan Ashworth has already taken huge strides towards securing players for the future, as he looks to revitalise the club’s academy.

The likes of Charlie McArthur and Alex Murphy have already joined, while there is reported interest in Saints sensation Tyler Dibling.

But a move for Chukwuemeka would eclipse them all, as he is a player who has already thrived in the Premier League.

Chukwuemeka is a real talent

At the age of 17, he made his Premier League debut under Dean Smith during the 2020/21 campaign. Chukwuemeka made 11 league appearances last season, with his first start coming against Brentford in August.

Pundit Paul Merson was massively impressed with him that day, and tipped him to become ‘an absolute star‘.

He even had a summer to remember too with England’s Under-19s side. The teenager helped the Three Lions win the Under-19 European Championships, and was named in the team of the tournament.

Chukwuemeka is a star of the future, and Aston Villa find themselves in a difficult situation. Hopefully Newcastle are ready to capitalise, as he could be an exceptional long-term investment.
