Newcastle United reportedly want to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk, and the winger has been left shocked by how much Shakhtar Donetsk want for him.
The Ukrainian attacker is one of the most in-demand players in Europe right now, with his exploits in his home nation and in the Champions League seriously turning heads.
He is a major target for Arsenal, while he has also been linked with a move to St James’ Park. i News claimed in September that the Magpies were considering a move for Mudryk, who was valued at £50million at the time.
That was deemed a big fee, but his valuation has increased even more ever since.
Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Shakhtar want as much as £61million for him. However, even he is wide of the mark with that figure.

Shakhtar’s director of football Dario Srna has spoke to the Athletic, and revealed that they want £88million for him. They feel that is in line with how much similar players such as Antony and Jack Grealish have gone for in recent years.
Their chief executive Sergei Palkin has also stated that they want £88million for their prized possession.
That is an astonishing amount of money, and Mudryk is not impressed with how much his club are demanding for him.
Mudryk is not happy about how much Shakhtar want
The 21-year-old has spoke to Sport Arena, and gave his thoughts on his valuation.
“When I found out my price, I was not only surprised – I was shocked,” Mudryk said.
“I have a long-term contract with Shakhtar, I give all my strength and energy so that Shakhtar achieve maximum results.”
He went on to add: “After reading the interview with the CEO, I will not hide it, I was very upset.
“The amount of 100 million puts a barrier for my transition to the top championship, which I so dreamed of. I can’t say that my dream is killed, but wounded, that’s for sure. But I’m a professional, I’m a Shakhtar player, we have a few tough league games left that we have to win, and I’ll do my best for that.”
Shakhtar want a huge fee for Mudryk
A figure of £88million certainly puts him out of Newcastle’s reach. It has already been claimed that the club will not be spending big money – unless the right player becomes available.
And while Mudryk might be the right player, it certainly isn’t the right price.
£88million would make him Newcastle’s most expensive player ever, eclipsing the £63million spent on Alexander Isak back in August.
The only positive about Shakhtar’s price tag is that it should put other teams off as well. It will likely mean that he remains with the Ukrainian club until the summer, when hopefully his price tag comes down.
By then Newcastle will be ready to invest more money into the squad, and could also have the lure of European football.
Mudryk is right to be disappointed, but hopefully it doesn’t dent his performances. Given his talent, a big move will be coming his way in the future. However, whether it is to Newcastle remains to be seen.
