When Newcastle United take on Everton at Goodison Park tonight, the Toon recruitment team might get the chance to do some scouting.
A few of Sean Dyche’s players have been linked with a move to Newcastle, as the Magpies eye a similar deal to the one that brought Anthony Gordon to St James’ Park at the start of the year.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is reportedly on Newcastle’s radar once again, while there has also been talk of Eddie Howe wanting to sign Jarrad Branthwaite.
It would be a surprise if either of those players moved to Tyneside, but there is a third Toffees player who Newcastle have been targeting. However, it looks like he might not be involved in tonight’s game at Goodison Park.
Sean Dyche provides fitness update on Amadou Onana
Ahead of the game between Everton and Newcastle, Sean Dyche provided an update on Amadou Onana’s fitness after the Belgian missed the games against Man United and Nottingham Forest due to a calf issue.
“Amadou’s back on the grass, touch and go with our decision around him,” he said.
It remains to be seen whether or not Onana will be involved against Newcastle tonight, and there will be some people of a Toon persuasion who hope that he is.

Newcastle have been linked with Amadou Onana
That is because the 22-year-old is a transfer target for the Magpies as they aim to sign a Sandro Tonali replacement in January.
Onana is clearly a player who Newcastle officials like, as his name has cropped up time and time again since the summer of 2022 – when he moved to Everton for £33million from Lille.
While the Toffees have not been a great team since his arrival, he has certainly stood out as one of their top performers.
It is easy to see why Newcastle are fans of him, and a move to St James’ Park would likely be well received by the Toon Army.
Tonight would ordinarily be a chance for the Newcastle scouts to get a closer look at him up against the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton, but it sounds like they could be robbed of that opportunity.
