The new Newcastle United away kit made by Castore has officialy been released.
The jersey was launched on Friday morning, as the 2021/22 Premier League season edges closer.
Now we’ve got a home and an away shirt, but still no new players.
Rather than a new signing, it’s the usual faces of Jamaal Lascelles, Callum Wilson, Jacob Murphy and Miguel Almiron modelling the kit.
As anticipated, the away kit is all black, with gold sections. The badge and sponsors are in gold and look very smart. The collar is white and gold.
If there is a clash, alternative gold shorts and socks will be worn.
The Fun88 logo looks much better, begging the question why they didn’t change the colour of it on the home kit. Then we wouldn’t have the ‘number four’ issue on the front.
There was a rumoured shirt doing the rounds on social media, but that has proven to be untrue. However, it was very similar.
The club haven’t confirmed when the new strip will get its first run out, but it would be no surprise to see it debut tonight away to Burton.
If you want to purchase it yourself, you better start rounding up your pennies. Just like the home shirt, it isn’t cheap.
On the official club store, the new shirt costs £65. But if you spend more than £150 you get free delivery – bargain…
Aesthetically, the new away kit is great. It’s a lot better than the home kit that Castore have produced.
However, the away jersey is very similar to the 2017/18 third kit. That’s not necessarily a bad thing as it was a very nice looking shirt. But it doesn’t suggest a lack of originality.
Regardless, some Toon fans are very happy with the new away kit. It’s a sad state of affairs that a new kit is the only thing to celebrate right now, but here we are.
