Newcastle insiders think ‘frightening’ star is now set to sign a new contract after talks

After so much talk over the last few months, Newcastle United may be about to keep two of their key players.

The prospect of having to sell a big name in order to balance the books on the FFP front was first raised back in January, no doubt causing concern for supporters.

While even the top clubs sometimes lose players they do not particularly wish to, seeing any big name leave Newcastle at a pretty early stage of the PIF era would have been galling.

In an ideal world, Yankuba Minteh would not be leaving.

Backed to reach “world class” levels, not everyone at St James’ Park would be on board with his now seemingly likely departure.

Still, there is reportedly a reluctant acceptance that the teenager will need to be sold in a bid to raise funds for further investment.

If it means being able to keep Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak too, then perhaps it’s a necessary evil.

The pair have been linked with a move away but Eddie Howe wants to build his team around Isak, who has been hailed as “frightening” by teammate Kieran Trippier.

Guimaraes, meanwhile, has seen the release clause in his contract expire for now.

All of that is very good reading for Newcastle and things could be about to get even better.

Newcastle now believe Alexander Isak will be signing a new contract soon

According to GIVEMESPORT, insiders at Newcastle are confident Isak will soon sign a new contract.

While the Sweden international is under contract until 2028, it seems he will be rewarded with a new deal soon enough.

Isak was reportedly looking for assurances Newcastle matched his ambition in getting back to the Champions League, so he is seemingly now satisfied.

It is believed the 24-year-old will have a release clause in his new deal, similar to that of the one Guimaraes had.

Alexander Isak is so highly rated at Newcastle

Even after scoring 21 Premier League goals last season, there is hope at Newcastle that Isak can still improve from here.

Indeed, insiders are thought to believe he can genuinely become the best striker in the world, such is the high esteem in which he’s held.
