Like a lot of pundits, Chris Sutton has been a big defender of Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce.
Despite a plethora of woeful performances throughout his tenure, a lot of the so-called experts believe the 60-year-old is doing a good job.
Meanwhile, Toon fans are sick and have voiced their displeasure. Chants of ‘we want Brucey out’ can be heard at every Newcastle game right now.
So far this season the Magpies have failed to win. They haven’t won any of their six Premier League games, while they’re out of the Carabao Cup. Yet still there is no pressure on Bruce from the board, nor is there any concern coming from pundits.

Apparently we should be happy with fighting relegation because we’ve had an exciting game against Leeds and created a load of chances versus Watford…
Down the road at Tottenham, things are going much better, but still not great.
Nuno Espirito Santo replaced Jose Mourinho, and got off to a great start with three consecutive 1-0 wins. Things have since gone sour, with a hat-trick of defeats in the Premier League.
For context, they played poorly against Crystal Palace and lost after going down to 10 men, then they were battered by title contenders Chelsea. Then they were embarrassed on Sunday, losing 3-1 to rivals Arsenal.

Now the pressure is mounting on Nuno, who is being questioned after just six games.
“I don’t think Spurs fans will ever get the type of football they want under Nuno,” Sutton told BBC 5 Live’s Monday Night Club.
“Chuck in the Kane stuff as well and it’s turning into a bit of a nightmare.
“The appointment simply didn’t fit and that’s on Daniel Levy.”
This is quite the contrast to what he said about Bruce and his role at St James’ Park.
In November 2019, Sutton told 5 Live: “What managers don’t get now is time and Steve Bruce always needed time to implement his own style of play and I think there must be Newcastle fans out there who will be embarrassed with the way that they have treated Steve Bruce and the fact he is from the area.

“He has had a terrific career in management and you can’t judge him after two, three or four games, saying get somebody else in.”
So apparently you can’t judge Bruce early, but you can judge Nuno? Why’s that then? Is it because Tottenham are one of the famous ‘big six’?
It reeks of hypocrisy from Sutton, and sums up a big problem in the media today. Unless it impacts the big clubs, people don’t care.
