According to the Northern Echo, Burnley don’t want to sell James Tarkowski to Newcastle in January.
The centre-back has been linked with the Magpies since the takeover went through, and he is the kind of player Newcastle need right now.
Our defence has been appalling, while we need players with Premier League experience. That’s why fans were so excited when talk of Tarkowski coming to St James’ Park emerged.
The 29-year-old is in the last year of his Burnley contract, meaning January is the last opportunity for the Clarets to get some money for him.

There’s always a chance that Tarkowski could extend his stay at Turf Moor, but rumours have suggested that he definitely wants to leave the club.
But will he be allowed an exit in January? The Northern Echo suggest not.
Their report states that Sean Dyche doesn’t want to sell Tarkowski, as it would cost a lot more to replace someone of his quality. The Clarets especially don’t want to sell to Newcastle, who are a relegation rival.
This could be a blow for Eddie Howe, and Toon fans have been reacting to the update on Twitter.
What have Newcastle fans had to say about the James Tarkowski update?
Toon fans are mixed, and it’s understandable
A lot of supporters accept Burnley’s Tarkowski stance.
The logic is sound. We wouldn’t want to sell Allan Saint-Maximin to Norwich, would we?

While Burnley might end up losing Tarkowski for nothing, relegation would cost them so much more. Not only would they become weaker, one of their rivals would become stronger.
But on the other hand, money does talk. The Burnley owners’ attitude might change when their is cash on the table. On top of that, keeping a player who doesn’t want to be there might disrupt the rest of the camp.
It’s a difficult situation for Burnley.
Newcastle might have to pay over the odds, but he could be a priceless addition if he helps keep us in the Premier League.
