Richard Masters is not popular among Newcastle fans.
The Premier League Chief Executive is the league’s public figure, and thus has had to deal with questions about the Newcastle takeover since last year.
However, Masters rarely provides clarity. Most things have been met with ‘no comment’, while he also claimed it would be sorted in a ‘timely manner’ and that he sympathises with Toon fans.
For reference, that was nine months ago, while the club have accused the Premier League of threatening to expel them from the competition.

That allegation came out during last week’s CAT hearing, as Mike Ashley goes down the legal route in an attempt to resurrect the takeover.
St James Holdings Limited accused BeIN Sport and others clubs lobbying the Premier League to stop the takeover.
Now it is up to the Competition Appeal Tribunal to decide whether the case goes ahead.
In the aftermath of the hearing, you’d think Masters would keep a low profile – stay out of the public eye.

But no. Instead, he was pictured sat alongside Daniel Levy on Sunday as Tottenham beat Aston Villa 2-1.
Interestingly, Amanda Staveley previously accused members of the ‘big six’ of lobbying against the Saudi-backed takeover. And the Mirror claimed in July 2020 that Tottenham and Liverpool were two clubs who were against the deal.
It doesn’t look good, does it Mr Masters? While this may have been an innocent visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it’s not very good PR just days after the CAT hearing.
