Amanda Staveley has admitted that they looked at other clubs before buying Newcastle, including Inter Milan.

The Toon co-owner has been doing the media rounds once again, as the glorious age of ‘communication’ continues to impress Newcastle fans.

We barely heard a peep from Mike Ashley, but the new owners are doing things differently.

After an interview on the club’s official YouTube channel, Staveley has also spoken to the press following the appointment of Eddie Howe, as well as looking back at the first five weeks in charge of Newcastle.

And one rumour that has been doing the rounds is that PIF want to buy more clubs – most notably Inter Milan.

These rumours first emerged during the takeover saga, and they have continued even after the deal went through last month.

Now Staveley has set the record straight.

Staveley says ‘We talked to Inter…’

“We talked to Inter Milan, AC [Milan], but the problem was the structure of the league was a mess. We looked briefly at Bordeaux,” she told the Telegraph.

“But we’re not looking at Inter [any more].”

The only question here is how involved would Staveley be in any future PIF deals? Would it be the same consortium going in for other clubs?

That feels unlikely, so don’t be surprised if the Inter Milan rumours continue to do the rounds in the coming weeks and months. Whether they amount to anything remains to be seen.

However, it does feel unlikely that PIF would be able to secure a stake in such a massive club, especially after the backlash to the Newcastle deal.

For now, Staveley’s focus will be on Newcastle. They made their first big appointment this week, bringing in Eddie Howe as manager.

It will now be up to him to move the club away from the relegation zone before getting some funds to play with in January.
