Antonio Cordero is signing off his time as a Malaga player in style.
Newcastle United fans will have heard Cordero’s name in recent months, despite the fact he plays for a club in the Spanish second tier.
Though it has not yet been confirmed, it’s thought that Newcastle have signed Cordero on a pre-contract from Malaga.
The 18-year-old winger has emerged as an exciting talent since making his debut in August 2024. Indeed, Barcelona made a last-ditch attempt to sign Cordero, but it appears as if Newcastle have won the race.
Seemingly coming towards the end of his time at Malaga, the season has ended on a very positive note.

Antonio Cordero secures Malaga safety ahead of Newcastle United move
Malaga beat Sporting Gijon in the Spanish second tier on Saturday, with the Newcastle-bound forward playing the full game.
That puts them on 52 points in the Segunda Division, which was a huge step towards ensuring their safety.
Then, on Sunday, relegation rivals Castellon drew with Eldense, meaning Malaga officially confirmed their survival.
When is Antonio Cordero joining Newcastle United?
Cordero is expected to officially sign for Newcastle in June, meaning he’s now in the long goodbye stage of his time in Malaga.
They now have just one home game remaining, which comes against Burgos on the first day of June. Prior to that, they head to Elche for their last away trip of the campaign on Sunday 25 May, 2025.

Malaga want to sign Cordero on loan from Newcastle for next season but it remains to be seen if the club agree to that.
Eddie Howe has confirmed Cordero could earn a chance at Newcastle next season, although it is hard to believe a young player could make such a step up in quality at this early stage of his career.
Still, with only a few games remaining, at least he can be assured in the knowledge that safety is secured.
