Newcastle United fans are buzzing about Alexander Isak potentially joining the club, and pundit Micah Richards will be excited too.
The Magpies have reportedly agreed an initial fee of £59million to sign the Swede from Real Sociedad. The fee could rise to £63million with add-ons.
It’s a huge piece of business by the new Toon owners, who are on course to absolutely smash the club’s transfer record. That honour currently belongs to Joelinton, who cost £40million in 2019.
He didn’t live up to the billing as a striker, and Isak will be hoping to have a lot more joy in front of goal.

It will be the 22-year-old’s first time playing in England, but he has previously been tipped for a move to the Premier League.
What Richards said on Isak last year
The forward impressed for Sweden at Euro 2020 last year, and caught the attention of former Manchester City defender Richards.
After impressing against Slovakia, the pundit heaped praise on Isak whilst appearing on Match Of The Day.

“He could do it in the Premier League as well,” he said.
“I would love to see him in the Premier League, honestly. He has been linked with Arsenal as well, so who knows. They might have found a gem there.”
Newcastle to put Richards’ theory to the test
One year on from being linked with Arsenal, Isak looks set to become a Magpie. He could be Newcastle’s ‘gem’ rather than Arsenal’s.
After Newcastle beat the Gunners to sign Bruno Guimaraes in January, they could be able to land another player ahead of them.

Richards’ view that Isak could shine in the Premier League will no doubt be shared by Eddie Howe. It would be a real risk to spend so much money on someone who doesn’t look suited to English football.
The forward has already impressed on the international stage, while he’s also been a part of a strong Real Sociedad team. He’s enjoyed four decent years in Spain, with his best season being the 2020/21 campaign where he scored 17 goals.
A tally similar to that in black and white would represent a decent start to life on Tyneside, and prove that he really is suited to the Premier League as Micah Richards predicted last year.
