Mehrdad Ghodoussi reacts as Isaac Hayden sends goodbye message to Newcastle United

Isaac Hayden has issued an emotional goodbye message to Newcastle United fans on Twitter.

The midfielder left St James’ Park yesterday, agreeing a loan deal with Norwich City. The deal will become permanent if certain criteria is met.

Hayden will be playing in the Championship next season, and has spoke about his delight at joining Dean Smith’s side.

They’re getting an excellent player, and someone who should thrive in the second tier. He did it before with Newcastle, and he can do it again in a Norwich shirt.

Isaac Hayden admits it’s ‘time to move’ on in message to Toon fans

The 27-year-old immediately spoke to Norwich’s official website following the move, but now he’s taken to Twitter to discuss his time in the North East.

He wrote: “Don’t know where to start.. what a club, set of fans, lads and staff. Amazing memories, but time to move forward with a fresh challenge. All the best for the upcoming season, I’m sure it will be a great one for the club.”

It’s a very sincere and heartfelt message from Hayden. He’s spent the majority of his professional career at St James’ Park, joining in 2016 when he was only 21.

He’s grown up with Newcastle United, going on to have a family with his wife. The birth of his daughter was a testing time, with complications leading to speculation that he would leave the club and head back down south.

That didn’t happen though. Instead, Hayden gave everything he could every time he represented Newcastle. He is the ultimate professional and Norwich are getting an excellent player.

Ghodoussi wishes Hayden luck

Toon co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi has reacted to Hayden’s message.

He wrote: “Good luck Isaac.”

It’s nice to see one of the owners publicly wish Hayden well. There will likely be plenty of goodbyes this summer, with multiple players linked with moves away from SJP.

Having already hinted that he’d be on the move, Hayden becomes the first major name to depart. However, he won’t be the last.

A special group has been assembled over the years that has battled for this club. From winning promotion to keeping us in the Premier League, fans have a real connection with this squad.

But the time has come for some of them to move on, and that includes Hayden. Good luck at Norwich!
