Newcastle United co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi has told Bruno Guimaraes he was ‘proud’ of his performance against Leicester.

The Magpies beat the Foxes in dramatic fashion, with Bruno netting a last second winner.

The win makes it five on the bounce at home for Eddie Howe, whose side now have 37 points. Premier League safety is all but assured, with Newcastle now in with a chance of finishing in the top half.

Newcastle showed real character to beat Leicester, who will feel disappointed to leave with nothing. In all honesty, a draw would have been a fair result. But it was the Magpies who won it, and it was all down to one man – Bruno.

HITC Sport's First New Signing REVEALED

Another ‘superb performance’ from Bruno Guimaraes

Bruno started his second game at St James’ Park on Sunday, having been the star of the show last time out against Wolves.

And once again he robbed the headlines, bagging a remarkable brace to complete an impressive comeback victory.

After the game, the 24-year-old received a message from one of the men who brought him to St James’ Park, Mehrdad Ghodoussi.

He wrote on Twitter: “Superb performance…proud of you.”

It was a superb performance by Bruno, but very different to his display against Wolves.

Even without his goals, the Brazilian was exceptional. His defensive work was astounding, making key challenges and blocks.

He was also excellent in possession, looking to get Newcastle up the pitch and relieve the pressure. There was one moment in the second half where he incredibly chipped the ball past two defenders and almost played Chris Wood in.

But the afternoon will be remembered for Bruno’s last-gasp winner. The number 39 showed incredible energy and desire to get in the box – especially since he looked absolutely shattered midway through the second half.

Ghodoussi is right to be proud of Guimaraes. Every game he plays, he proves what an astounding signing he was. The Toon Army have a new hero.
