Newcastle United have today won 2-1 against Leicester City in the Premier League, taking another big step towards survival.
The Magpies have now gone 12 points clear of the relegation zone, with Burnley having drawn with West Ham United.
Eddie Howe’s side fell behind thanks to a goal from Ademola Lookman from the visitors.
But Bruno Guimaraes levelled for the Magpies, poking the ball through the legs of Kasper Schmeichel who failed to gather the ball.
The Brazilian’s effort was initially ruled out, but VAR urged the referee to look at the pitchside monitor. He then awarded the goal.
Leicester perhaps looked like the side more likely to score again in the second-half.
But Newcastle defended well, and struck at the death with Bruno scoring with a diving header after brilliant work down the left side by Joe Willock.

The ball popped up nicely for the former Lyon man, who made no mistake with his header into the top corner.
The brace from Bruno effectively now ensures Newcastle’s Premier League status for next season.
Shortly after the game, former Newcastle striker Mick Quinn took to Twitter to react to Bruno’s exploits, and made quite a big claim.
He said: “Top win for the Mighty Mags, hopefully it should be enough for next season and @brunoog97 is one of the best January Transfer Window buys ever #HWTL See you Wednesday for the Palace Game X.”
Newcastle have struck gold with Bruno Guimaraes
The two goals today from Bruno are absolutely priceless for Newcastle.
He’s been impressing every time he’s taken to the field. But essentially, these particular contributions will now keep Newcastle in the Premier League.

The club are very lucky to have a player like him.
Huge credit must go to the recruitment team that facilitated the deal in January.
He has arguably already repaid his transfer fee, and Newcastle fans can surely look forward to many a fantastic performance from him.
