Bruno Guimaraes ensured Newcastle made it five home games in a row with his brace against Leicester.

It was a very even game at St James’ Park, but the Magpies snatched it in the last second thanks to Bruno’s diving header.

Newcastle put in a real team performance against the Foxes, but who was the star in black and white? This is our Toon player ratings…

Martin Dubravka 6/10

Another quiet game for the goalkeeper, who was rarely tested by Leicester. However, he will perhaps believe he could’ve done better for Ademola Lookman’s cleverly worked goal.

Emil Krafth 8/10

What a performance that was from Emil Krafth. The super Swede is really enjoying a rich vein of form. He’s firmly established himself ahead of Javi Manquillo in recent weeks.

Fabian Schar 7/10

Schar had one scary moment in the second half when he was closed down by Patson Daka, but was largely untroubled otherwise. Made two key blocks to deny Lookman shortly after the restart.

Dan Burn 7/10

Solid from Dan Burn, who played an important role in the Toon equaliser. His knock down was eventually bundled in by Bruno . Burn was dominant in the air and continues his great start to life at Newcastle.

Matt Targett 7/10

Targett deserves a lot of credit for his performance against Leicester. A lot of their attacks came down his side, and he did well to restrict Ayoze Perez and James Justin. Targett can also be credited for the winner, with his defensive work and forward pass setting Joe Willock away.

Miguel Almiron 6/10

Another performance full of running and endeavour from Almiron, who got the nod due to Ryan Fraser’s injury. It was a typical showing from the Paraguayan, but he was unable to influence proceedings in the final third.

Joelinton 6/10

Missed a golden chance to open the scoring in the first half. The 25-year-old worked hard and picked up some nice positions, but often failed to deliver in possession.

Jonjo Shelvey 7/10

Another steady showing from Jonjo Shelvey. He was impressive with and without the ball.

Bruno Guimaraes 9/10

It’s still hard to believe he plays for Newcastle United. The amount of ground he made up for the winning goal was sensational, but his performance was about more than his goals. Against Wolves he dictated the game, but against Leicester we saw his defensive prowess. What a player.

Allan Saint-Maximin 5/10

A really frustrating afternoon for Allan Saint-Maximin. He had a couple of moments of brilliance, but his decision making left a lot to be desired. Disappointing.

Chris Wood 5/10

After netting the winner against Wolves, he spent most of the Leicester game as a spectator. Chris Wood barely got a kick, and was rightly substituted with 20 minutes to go.

Substitutes: Willock 7/10, Murphy 6/10, Gayle N/A
