Newcastle United have endured a rather frustrating time of it during the January transfer window.

While Eddie Howe has been keen to strengthen this month, Newcastle have so far been unable to do so due to FFP restrictions reportedly frustrating those behind the scenes.

Still, it’s important to remember that this won’t be the case forever.

Indeed, major incomings have been tipped to happen this summer as the club get set to rebuild.

One player who may not feature in the Newcastle team going forward, however, is Bruno Guimaraes.

Linked with a move away from the club, there has been some fresh news in regard to his long-term future.

Bruno Guimaraes transfer news: Newcastle latest

According to the Daily Mirror, Paris Saint-Germain are now confident of winning the race to sign the Brazilian.

It is claimed that talks with the player’s representatives have been held, with the midfielder thought to have a release clause of around £100m included in the contract he signed late last year.

PSG are believed to have stepped up their interest with Real Madrid also thought to be keen.

For his part, the 26-year-old isn’t said to be looking to rush his decision to leave St James’ Park.

Bruno Guimaraes transfer: A necessary sale for Newcastle?

iNews claimed earlier this month that selling Guimaraes for £100m could unlock as much as £80m in spending power for Newcastle.

Given the frustrations of this season, that would be a huge positive, albeit losing such a fantastic player would be a blow.

Taking the emotion out of it, however, would leave Newcastle with a £60m profit after paying £40m for him in January 2022.

Should that also help the club keep a hold of the likes of Alexander Isak and Sven Botman all while strengthening elsewhere, it would certainly soften the blow.
