Newcastle United might be dealing with another injury in the aftermath of the defeat to Everton.
The Magpies were well below their usual standards on Thursday night, as Everton won 3-0 to move out of the relegation zone and make Newcastle‘s away record this season even worse.
It was one of those nights for Eddie Howe’s side. Kieran Trippier made two mistakes that were completely out of character, while Anthony Gordon failed to deliver against his former club.
It will serve as quite the reality check for Newcastle, who have been on a major high after brilliant performances against Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.
But the Magpies do not have any time to feel sorry for themselves. They have got another quick turnaround, as Howe’s side face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
That will be another challenging away game for Newcastle, who have only won once on the road in the Premier League all season.
Howe’s squad will still be depleted for the trip to Spurs, and it is now unclear if the Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles will be available for the game in the capital.
Eddie Howe provides injury update on Jamaal Lascelles after Everton loss
Lascelles was replaced in the 90th minute at Goodison Park, with Emil Krafth taking his place.
Howe spoke to NUFC TV after the game, and explained why he had to take the 30-year-old off.
“Looks like a knock [for Lascelles],” he said.
“I don’t know at this stage [if he will be available on Sunday].”

Newcastle need their captain available
Given Newcastle’s current injury woes, it would be a huge blow if Lascelles is unavailable for the game against Spurs.
If that is the case, Howe’s squad will be even more stretched. It will likely result in either Krafth or Paul Dummett coming into the side, neither of which have started a Premier League game all season.
While it is hoped that Sven Botman is nearing a return from injury, Sunday’s game will likely be too early for him to make his comeback.
Fingers crossed Lascelles is fit enough to play, but Howe will also be wary of the looming Champions League clash with AC Milan just a few days later.
