Gary Neville has made his prediction for what will happen when Newcastle United travel down to the capital to face Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.
The last time these two teams played each other it was an unbelievable performance from Newcastle to score five goals in the first 21 minutes, but it looks set to be a much tighter affair this time round.
In the latest episode of The Overlap, Gary Neville predicted Newcastle’s game against Tottenham to finish in a draw with both sides fighting at the top end of the table.
Newcastle are on the rise while Tottenham are falling off
Tottenham looked to be making an early title charge under new manager Ange Postecoglu who had his side playing some brilliant free-flowing football before it all came tumbling down a month ago.
Spurs came into their game against Chelsea full of confidence and still unbeaten in the Premier League, but two key injuries and two suspensions later and that record was swiftly taken away in a 4-1 defeat.
Since then, Tottenham have gone on to lose their next two before picking up a point against Man City at the Etihad, and Gary Neville expects that winless run to go on against Newcastle.
The Magpies are having an injury crisis of their own and have just added Nick Pope’s name to that list, but they are fighting on with the players that remain and have picked up some brilliant results against Man United and Chelsea.
However, it’s still not enough to convince Neville of a Newcastle win against Tottenham.
On The Overlap, Neville said: “I don’t think Tottenham are winning that game on Sunday. I think Newcastle have got something in them. So I think we go draw, 1-1.”

Newcastle have to turn their away form around
Newcastle will travel down to Goodison Park tonight to face Everton so we’ll know a lot more about their away form after this game, but it doesn’t look promising for the Geordies.
While their home form is one of the best in the league, behind only Aston Villa and Liverpool, their away form puts them close to relegation after picking up just four points from six games.
Admittedly amongst those games you’ve got trips to Man City and Brighton which are difficult fixtures for any club, but they’ve also dropped points to Bournemouth, West Ham and Wolves.
It’s in massive contrast to last season’s away record which had Newcastle in third place in the Premier League, so for Eddie Howe it’s all about finding that grit and determination to fight away from St James’ Park.
