Newcastle United fans love Kieran Trippier, and rightly so.
He was the first signing made by the new owners, signifying the start of a brand new era on Tyneside.
The right-back swapped Champions League football for a relegation dog fight. It immediately highlighted the sudden pulling power we had.
As he arrived, more followed. Newcastle made the signings they needed, and have continued to take big strides this summer. The biggest arrival is Sven Botman, who cost £35million from Lille.
There’s been an incredible feelgood factor around the club since the turn of the year, with renewed optimism engulfing St James’ Park.
It’s been positive moment after positive moment pretty much since Trippier arrived, and now he’s spoke about the emotion he’s seen from the fans.

Speaking to the Mirror, Trippier discussed the progress the club has made and what has surprised him about the fans.
“Everything has changed – owner, staff, manager, new players and everyone is excited,” he said.
“As players we need to deliver. Everyone is together, the city is together and that is great credit to the owners as well.
“We are a sleeping giant. The city is believing again. I knew all about Newcastle fans before I came and knew what to expect, but the fervour has definitely surprised me.”
Toon fans have been at their best since Trippier joined
The passion and the noise inside St James’ Park has been incredible in 2022. There haven’t been many bad days since Trippier joined the club. The only two games that stand out are the defeat to Cambridge and the draw with Watford.
Other than that, it’s been high after high for the Toon Army. The players have performed and the fans have responded in the only way they know. Looking back to the final home game against Arsenal, the atmosphere was magical from start to finish.
The passion is no surprise to Trippier, but he is surprised at just how intense the love is. It means so much up here. Newcastle United Football Club is everything to the fans. And supporters have been starved of any success for so long.
That’s why any hint of happiness is met with a roar of adulation. Sometimes the cheer for winning a corner is as loud as winning a trophy – I imagine, that’s not a regular occurrence on Tyneside.
Hopefully the good times continue, and Trippier can be surprised even further by the fans who now chant his name loud and proud.
