Jude Bellingham was surrounded by Newcastle United players as England beat Republic of Ireland.

There were three Newcastle United players in the England starting XI on Sunday, as Lee Carsley ended his interim spell as manager with a 5-0 win.

Carsley recalled Harry Kane to the side, while Jude Bellingham also started once again. And they were joined by Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento.

For Hall, it was his first ever start for the Three Lions. Hall made his debut off the bench against Greece, but was trusted to start at Wembley. As for Livramento, this was his England debut.

Anthony Gordon scores his first England goal

The Newcastle defenders enjoyed a special night, while it was just as memorable for Anthony Gordon.

While the 23-year-old is now an England regular with nine caps, he was able to score his first ever goal for his country on Sunday night.

Gordon scored England’s second, directing a smart volley with his right foot into the bottom corner after a deflected cross from Livramento.

Jude Bellingham congratulates Anthony Gordon

After scoring his first goal for England, Gordon took to his official Instagram account to deliver a message.

Alongside images of him celebrating his goal at Wembley, Gordon wrote: “Great moment to score my first goal at Wembley! Loved this camp with my brothers.”

The £40million man was inundated with replies, with so many people delighted to see Gordon find the net for the first time in an England shirt.

Real Madrid superstar and England teammate Jude Bellingham replied: “So happy for you brother.”

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer commented: “Well done.”

There were also replies from Toon teammates Hall, Livramento and Will Osula.

Livramento told Gordon he is ‘so so good’, while Hall simply posted ‘what a player’.

Big boost for Gordon ahead of Newcastle return

Following Newcastle’s last game against Nottingham Forest, Gordon was an injury doubt after sustaining a hip problem.

But Gordon has insisted he is fully fit, and proved that by starting twice for England.

And with his first international goal under his belt, Gordon should return to Tyneside full of confidence ahead of Newcastle’s next Premier League fixture.

The Magpies are not in action until next Monday night, with West Ham United set to head to St James’ Park.

With it being the final game of the weekend, that gives Gordon and his fellow internationals more time to recover. That is a boost for Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe, who must decide whether to start Gordon on the left or the right of attack.

For Gordon, he will really hope to kick on after scoring his maiden England goal. That is his fourth goal contribution of the season, having scored twice and got one assist for Newcastle United so far.
