Despite not playing as an out and out striker, he won more headers than anyone in the Premier League with 12.
The positional change worked well for Joelinton and he earned rave reviews from the fans on Twitter for his performance.
Newcastle were much improved as a team and should have killed the game off before Watford recovered.
There was incisive football at times, and if it had been married with more clinical finishing, Newcastle would have won the game.
That’s something Joelinton himself has to work on, even if he’s not going to play through the middle.
Hopefully Bruce sticks with the system which plays with wingers given the improvement it sparked on Saturday.
The big concern is the way Newcastle failed to kill off or see out the match against newly-promoted opponents.
But it was a decent weekend personally for Joelinton and that’s something he’ll hope to build in the coming weeks.
