In truth, Newcastle should have been almost out of sight by half time after a first half where they looked by far the better team.
That first half improvement was sparked by a switch to a back four and a system with wingers, but Newcastle couldn’t see the game out.
That allowed Joelinton to cut in from the left hand side, and the outcome was a confident, purposeful performance.
Joelinton’s performance rightly drew praise from some fans on Twitter, as they got a glimpse of how good he can be when he’s confident and deployed in the right position.
It was a frustrating afternoon for Newcastle as they got a draw with a side who look bound to be in the relegation dogfight this term, having dominated for large swathes of the match.
