Newcastle United lost the Carabao Cup final against Manchester United, and Joelinton admits his side simply must move on now.
Joelinton played the full game at Wembley, as the Red Devils beat Newcastle 2-0 to win the 2023 Carabao Cup.
It was a disappointing end to an incredible weekend for the fans, who travelled in their thousands to support Eddie Howe and his players.
But Newcastle could not get the job done down in the capital, and were beaten by the better side. Man United’s experience made the difference, with Casemiro and Marcus Rashford finding the net.
The Magpies did have chances to score, with Joelinton coming close on two occasions. He had a goal-bound effort blocked by Lisandro Martinez, while David De Gea scrambled to stop a looping header from the Brazilian.

It wasn’t to be for Newcastle, who must now refocus their energy on the Premier League and their bid to qualify for Europe.
Joelinton thinks it is time for Newcastle to ‘move on’ after Wembley heartache
Since the game at Wembley, Joelinton has taken to his official Instagram account to deliver a message to supporters.
He wrote: “It still hurts, but it’s time to get up and move on. Thank you so much for all the support you guys were amazing!”
There has been a lot of talk about Newcastle’s support at the Carabao Cup final. The owners were amazed by what they saw inside Wembley, and so was January signing Harrison Ashby.
But the final has now been and gone. As Joelinton says, it is time to move on.
Joelinton is spot on
The defeat will hurt, but the club cannot let it hinder the rest of the campaign.
There is still a lot of football to be played, and Newcastle are in the midst of a wonderful season. We are still in the mix to qualify for Europe, and could even feature in next season’s Champions League.
But we are going to do our European bid no favours if we spend the next few weeks feeling sorry for ourselves. The result at Wembley was gutting, but it’s gone now.
Getting to the final was a brilliant achievement, and qualifying for Europe will be exciting too if we can get the job done. All the club can do is dust itself down and go again. There are still 15 games to go this season, and a top four finish is still a very real possibility.
