Joelinton started his third straight Newcastle United game in the 1-1 draw against Watford.
The Brazilian played on the wing, as manager Steve Bruce finally decided to part ways with his beloved 3-5-2 formation for the trip to Watford.
Despite not playing as an out and out striker, Joelinton won more headers than anyone in the Premier League across game week six with 12.
The club’s record signing only had one clear sight of goal at Vicarage Road, but instead of hitting the ball first time, he opted to take a touch which allowed Ben Foster time to get into position before denying the Brazilian with his feet.
Joelinton, who has often been criticised for his sub-par performances in the past, earned rave reviews from the fans on Twitter for his performance against the Hornets.
Joelinton sends motivational message
Following the draw against Watford which meant Newcastle’s wait for their first Premier League win of the season continued, Joelinton sent a message to the Newcastle fans.
The Brazilian striker’s post on Instagram read: “In life, it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve fallen, but how many time you’ve been able to get up.”
Although he hasn’t filled the goalscoring void left by Callum Wilson, Joelinton’s performances have been improving and has been becoming more and more involved in games.
But similar to his teammates he needs to find a way of being more clinical in front of goal and turning Newcastle’s draws into wins.
The 25-year-old will be hoping to get off the mark against Wolves at Molineux on Saturday.
