It is bad news for Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton.
The 28-year-old missed Newcastle United’s win over Ipswich Town on Saturday, with Joelinton suffering a knee injury.
With four games remaining, Newcastle United need to be firing on all cylinders as they aim to qualify for the Champions League.
That is why the Brazilian’s fitness is such a big concern.

Joelinton’s injury verdict
Joelinton missed Newcastle United training on Wednesday as the Magpies prepare to take on Brighton, and now an update regarding the midfielder has emerged.
According to the Daily Mail, Joelinton is likely to miss Newcastle’s final four Premier League games of the season.

They report that while the advice is for Joelinton to sit out the rest of the season, the man himself is currently unwilling to accept that he will not play again until the 2025/26 campaign.
Newcastle United are not going to rush Joelinton back and risk further injury. That is not something they have done all season, and that is not going to change now.
But whether or not he has any serious chance of playing again this season will surely depend on Newcastle’s top five aspirations. For example, there will be no need to risk Joelinton on the final day of the season if Champions League qualification is already guaranteed.
How many games Joelinton has missed this season
This is the second time this season that Joelinton has been ruled out with a knee injury.
The first was in January, with the £40million man forced to miss five games. That included the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg victory over Arsenal.
Fortunately for Eddie Howe, Joelinton was able to return to fitness in time for the final against Liverpool. He started at Wembley, with Joelinton proving to be Newcastle’s best player in the Carabao Cup final.
In total, Joelinton has missed six games this season through injury and one through suspension. He has missed seven games in total, and that number will rise to 11 if he does not play again for the Magpies.
In contrast, Joelinton missed 24 games during the 2023/24 campaign due to hamstring and groin issues.
